Christmas Markets

There is nothing quite like a good old Christmas market to get you in the festive spirit. With lots of local produce, crafts and drinks suppliers in Cornwall, there is plenty on offer all over the county. We’ve rounded up some of our favourite markets and fairs in or around Fowey for you to enjoy over the Christmas break.

1. Macmillan Christmas Fair, Eden Project, 17 November

Hosted in the sparkling Eden Project Kitchen, the Macmillan Christmas Fair will be kicking off the festive season in the biomes. Tickets will be available in the Eden Visitors Centre on the day from 10am at a price of £10, not including lunch. The fair will feature an abundance of stalls with plenty of gifts and home accessories, clothing and jewellery, and the finest produce in the county. Eden’s ice rink has now reappeared and will be available to enjoy until the 19 February.

2. The Cornish Winter Fair, Wadebridge, 19 November

For a slightly different take on a classic Christmas festival, head over to Wadebridge for their annual Cornish Winter Fair. The free event is hosted by the Royal Cornwall Events Centre and over the weekend families can experience Cornish farm life and learn about local agriculture. There are opportunities to milk a (mock) cow and groom a pony, as well as plenty of Cornish food and drink producers on hand to help you with any Christmas shopping and selling gifts from around the county.

3. Padstow Christmas Festival, 1 – 4 December

Cornwall’s largest food festival is going into its ninth year and is set to be better than ever with famous chefs visiting from all over the country to demo in the seaside town. Padstow will be hosting a traditional Christmas market throughout the weekend, as well as a a Santa fun run, lantern parade and impressive fireworks display. With big names like Tom Kerridge, Nathan Outlaw and Fern Britton making their way to Padstow this year, as well as our sister hotel’s head chef Tim Pile, from the Rosevine, it’s definitely not a weekend to be missed. Entrance is free and donations to local charities welcome. Find out how to make Tom’s chilli beef and flat bread crisps here, which he will demonstrating at the festival on Sunday 4 at 12.45pm.

5. Fowey Christmas Festival, 9 – 11 December

The second weekend of December is when Fowey becomes host to festive entertainment, food and drink and lots of stalls with unique Christmas gifts. The various festive activities can be found throughout the town and in Fowey Sports Hub, with a bus running between the two.
